Prof. Senayon Olaoluwa, who hails from Obakobe in Ado-Odo, Ogun State, Nigeria, boasts an impressive academic and professional background. A former Acting Director of the Institute of African Studies at the University of Ibadan, he holds the distinction of being the pioneer Head of Diaspora and Transnational Studies at the same institution.
His academic journey includes a Bachelor of Arts in English from Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), a Master of Arts in English from the prestigious University of Ibadan, and a PhD in Humanities from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Prof. Senayon has been honored with prestigious fellowships, underscoring the global recognition of his contributions. Notable among these are the Africa Oxford Initiative Fellowship at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, the American Council of Learned Societies-African Humanities Program in the USA, All Africa House Fellowship at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, DAAD Fellowship in Germany, and the African Guest Researchers’ Fellowship at the Nordic Africa Institute in Uppsala, Sweden, among others.
